Forbidden City and Capital Museum 18th September, 2018 (Tuesday) 8:00-17:00 We will depart from CNCC to the Forbidden City at 8:00 and have a lunch buffet in a local restaurant. Then drive to the Capital Museum. About 17:00, we will return to CNCC. A lunch buffet Brief introduction Forbidden City, situating right behind Tian'anmen Square, serves as political center and living quarter of 24 emperors of both Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. As being the largest royal palace in the world, the Forbidden City was turned into Palace Museum where hundreds and thousands of Chinese cultural treasures and historical relics are being displayed.
The original Capital Museum was established in 1981. Construction of the new site started from 2001 and the brand new museum was open to public on May 18, 2006. The museum is the base for the protection and study of cultural relics in the Beijing area.
