    Brief introduction
    Gubei Water Town surrounds the beautiful Mandarin Duck Lake Reservoir and leans against the Simatai Great Wall, the most dangerous and majestic section of the entire Great Wall. Gubei Water Town boasts a combination of mountains, water and ancient villages. The town is characterized by the northern architectural style, and the history and culture of the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the Republic of China (1912-1949) historic period. Most buildings are reconstructed in the traditional courtyard style. This town possesses an old-fashioned simplicity and elegance. Row upon row of houses, old quartzite streets and long Hutongs show the style and features of the old town.
    The Imperial Summer Resort is in the urban area of Chengde in Hebei province. It was proclaimed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1994. The Imperial Summer Resort extends over 5.64 million square meters. It is the largest imperial park existing in the world, constructed in 1703 and completed in 1792 (during the 42nd year of Emperor Kangxi’s Reign to the 57th year of Emperor Qianlong’s Reign). Exquisitely laid out, the Imperial Summer Resort was sumptuously built with unique architectural style. Combining the magnificence of North and the elegance of the South, the Imperial Summer Resort is a gathering place of nationwide beauties and many famous scenic spots, which demonstrating the paramount imperial power and the Qing rulers’ thinking to make the resort a splendid miniature of the entire country.
    7053b29fec.jpgThe Puning Temple was built in 1755 (the 20th year of Emperor Qianlong’s Reign). The Puning Temple named “puning” means “universal peace”, with the wooden Buddha statue enshrined (the largest in the world) in it.
    The Potala Palace of Panchen Lama Scenic Area is located to the north of The Mountain Resort, includes Putuo Zongcheng Temple and Xumi Fushou Temple. The temples were built in 1767 (the 32nd year of Emperor Qianlong’s Reign) and 1780 (the 45th year of Emperor Qianlong’s Reign) with the area of 257,900 square meters.
